Job summary

Compliance Management International (CMI) is seeking an experienced Environmental Safety Specialist for a full‑time, long‑term role in Toms River, NJ. You will lead on‑site safety oversight for environmental remediation, Superfund projects, hazardous waste operations, and construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to regulations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Construction Safety, Environmental Safety, EHS, or Environmental Remediation.
• Field experience with Superfund, environmental remediation, hazardous waste, or similar projects.
• Current OSHA 30‑Hour Construction
• Current 40‑Hour HAZWOPER + annual refresher
• 8‑Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor training
• Current First Aid / CPR / AED

Responsibilities

• Provide daily Construction Safety and Environmental Health & Safety oversight
• Support environmental remediation, Superfund/CERCLA, hazardous waste, contaminated‑site, and construction operations
• Conduct site inspections, safety audits, field observations, and hazard assessments
• Review HASPs, JHAs, JSAs, AHAs, Per‑Task Plans, permits, and contractor safety documentation
• Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926, and 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER
• Support HAZWOPER operations, site control, exclusion zones, decontamination, PPE, and respiratory protection
• Perform air monitoring, atmospheric testing, and exposure monitoring
• Operate, bump test, and calibrate PID meters, multi‑gas meters, O₂/LEL meters
• Monitor excavation/trenching, heavy equipment, confined space, fall protection, and other high‑risk work
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, field coaching, and contractor safety oversight
• Support incident investigations, near‑miss reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
• Maintain accurate EHS documentation, monitoring logs, inspection reports, and safety records
