Job summary

Weber School District is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support installation and preventive maintenance of doors, locks, and security hardware in a school facilities setting. The role includes working with carpenters, electricians, and other trades to ensure safe and functional facilities for students and staff.

Ideal candidates will have 3–4 years of relevant experience and a high school diploma, with ability to operate trade tools and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a current drivers license.
• Must be able to operate equipment used in trade including general hand and power tools, saws, threaders, manlift, forklift, etc.
• Must have knowledge of safety practices and procedures; and health standards and hazards.
• Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; and meeting deadlines and schedules.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: 3-4 years previous experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in demolition for safety and prep for new construction.
• Assists journey-level craftsmen for support in completing work activities.
• Assists other personnel to complete work activities.
• Assists with snow removal to ensure a safe environment.
• Assist in installing, servicing and retrofitting commercial steel door frames, hollow metal doors and all hardware.
