Job summary

Reboot Monkey is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for freelance/contract work in San Luis Obispo, California. This on-site role supports mission-critical infrastructure at premier data center facilities, performing installations, migrations, and hardware troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include rack and stack, structured cabling, cross-connects, and documenting work with photos and notes. Candidates should have 2+ years of data center or IT infrastructure experience, strong cabling

Qualifications

• 2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience.
• Strong cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, single-mode/multi-mode fiber).
• Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro).
• Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware installations, decommissions, and migrations.
• Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber optic).
• Conduct server racking, stacking, and labeling.
• Perform cross-connects and patch panel work.
