Job summary

Lincoln Electric Automation is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead electrical design, development, and startup of automated systems, including robotic welding cells and tooling. This on-site role in Cleveland, OH offers a hybrid option with three days in the office and two remote days.

You will design and implement control systems, program PLCs, and support integration across projects worldwide while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust automation solutions.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotic systems, or similar environment.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting electrical systems for automated machinery.
• Strong PLC programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with robotic automation, control system integration, and industrial networks.
• Experience selecting motors, drives, sensors, actuators, safety devices, and hardware.
• Experience with control panels, power distribution, grounding, circuit protection and installation requirements.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, standards including ANSI/IEC/UL; asset for the role.
• Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and operations teams.
• Experience supporting build, commissioning, startup, and field-service activities.
• Interpret and apply customer specs and safety standards in designs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, commission, and troubleshoot PLC programs and integrated control systems.
• Configure and support industrial networks including Ethernet/IP, I/O Link and CIP Safety.
• Select, configure, and troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, actuators, and safety devices.
• Support robot integration, including robot I/O and machine communications.
• Coordinate electrical engineering activities with mechanical, software, controls, robotics, production, service, and project teams.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to system-level technical decisions.
• Support build, commissioning, startup, and field-service activities as required.
• Travel up to 15% to support project execution.
