Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks a hands-on Controller in Pittsburgh, PA to lead accounting and financial operations for a local business. You will own month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls while partnering with operational and corporate leadership.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's in accounting or finance, 5–10 years of experience, strong Excel and ERP skills, and a track record in manufacturing or project-based accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• CPA or CMA preferred.
• Manufacturing, industrial services, construction, or project-based accounting experience preferred.
• Private equity-backed or standalone business unit experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and financial reporting.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Partner with leadership on profitability, margins, labor utilization, and operational trends.
• Oversee cash reporting, forecasting, AR, and AP support.
• Strengthen internal controls and identify process improvements.
• Support audits, integrations, and reporting enhancements.
• Assist with payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, and other administrative needs.
