Job summary

Infrastructure Engineering, Inc. (IEI) seeks an experienced Construction Safety Specialist to support a major capital program for the Port Authority of NY & NJ. This field-based role collaborates with project teams, contractors, and agency reps to ensure safety programs meet regulatory requirements on active construction sites.

The role emphasizes site audits, incident investigations, and proactive safety culture, with on-site work and potential extended hours based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 5 years of construction safety experience on active sites.
• Must hold OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification and SST card.
• CHST or similar credential preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety management or related field preferred.
• Ability to navigate OSHA, NYC DOB, FDNY, and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts, drawings, and safety plans for compliance with regulations.
• Monitor construction activities to identify hazards and ensure safety program alignment.
• Conduct site safety audits and inspections across active projects.
• Prepare daily safety reports with observations and corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents and near misses; perform root-cause analyses.
