OVERVIEW

Under the direct Supervision of theConstruction Management Division, to support the Port AuthorityOffice of Safety Management, the selected candidate shall performtechnical and administrative duties essential to ensure thatcontractors conduct activities in compliance with all Federal, Stateand Local fire and safety regulations and standards to eliminatehazardous practices and conditions, and also ensuring fire safetyprograms and standards are properly adhered to at the Port Authorityand Leaseholder construction sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review contracts, drawings, and project-relateddocumentation to ensure adherence.
  
• Ensure contractors are in compliance with OSHA,FDNY, NYCDOB, Local laws and all applicable regulations.
  
• Review contractor Health and Safety Plan submittals.
  
• Audit work operations and construction processesto ensure they conform to Health & Safety Programs, JobHazard Analysis, Contract drawings, approved plans and allaccepted safety procedures.
  
• Monitor work conditions, operations, practices,construction equipment and processes to evaluate effectiveness,adherence with accepted programs, required regulations, andalignment with all applicable safety policies.
  
• Provide Port Authority with daily reports toinclude photos and detailed account of safety observations,findings, safety deficiencies, and corrective measures.
  
• Conduct Accident, Incident and near missinvestigations, root cause analysis and make recommendationsto prevent recurrences.
  
• Provide Port Authority with PreliminaryInformation Reports on accident and incident investigation information.

REQUIREMENTS

• The successful candidate will also be subject to acomprehensive background check, must pass a fingerprint basedcriminal history records check in order to obtain an airportSecurity Identification Display Area (SIDA) credential. Thecandidate must be able to maintain SIDA credentialsthroughout your employment in this position.
  
• The candidate will be expected to conductcomprehensive site audits throughout all constructionprojects throughout the agency.
  
• The position is a field position that requiresworking in all types of weather.
  
• The position requires the candidate to be capableof walking, navigating and accessing all points of a vast,active and dynamic construction site for extended periods of timethrough most of the day. The position will require climbingvarious types of stairs, ladders and scaffolds as well asbending, lifting/moving objects, and driving to construction sites.
  
• The ideal candidate must be flexible and availableto work evenings, extended hours and overtime if/when needed.Must also be able to work rotating shifts which includeweekends and holidays.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must present the followingqualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
