Job summary

Polk Mechanical is seeking a Safety Coordinator to serve as the primary safety professional on a single project, facility, or worksite. You will implement Polk Mechanical's safety programs through daily field engagement, hazard identification, coaching, training, inspections, and incident management, reporting to a Site Safety Manager or Regional Safety Manager depending on project structure.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; degree in safety preferred.
• 3–5 years of safety or construction experience preferred.
• OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 required; CSHO or CHST preferred.
• Valid driver's license per company requirements.
• Knowledge of general construction operations (mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, welding).
• Proficiency with safety reporting platforms (Excel, SMS/Procore).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safety protocols with project supervision.
• Ensure safety expectations are communicated and followed by GC, Polk teams.
• Conduct regular safety assessments, document hazards and actions.
• Communicate with Site/Regional Safety Manager about incidents and risks.
• Maintain documentation in SMS/Procore or other systems.
• Coach and mentor Safety Representatives and field personnel.
• Coordinate safety staffing for shutdowns, testing, and tie-ins.
• Lead or support incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Deliver site-specific safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks.
• Review high-risk permits (hot work, confined space, lifts).
