Job summary

Hoyle Tanner is seeking a motivated Resident Project Representative to serve as the on-site representative for upcoming construction projects in our New England Municipal Engineering Division. This role is based in Manchester, NH or Portsmouth, NH and involves close collaboration with project managers, contractors, and clients to monitor construction activities and verify compliance with plans.

Qualifications

• Associates/ BSCE or related field.
• Certification or ability to become certified in OSHA 10 Construction and Confined Space for Construction, or HAZWOPER.
• 5-15 years of construction/ inspection experience.
• Ability to read and decipher plans and specifications.
• Salary is contingent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Field observation and inspection of infrastructure projects under supervision.
• Record site observations in daily reports and report issues to supervisory personnel.
• Read and understand contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and special provisions.
• Conduct simple field testing of construction materials and report results.
• Produce simple drawings, tracings, maps, and technical computations to describe and report on observed construction operations.
• Use engineering tools such as transit level, rotary laser, GPS to measure and verify quantities.
• Be involved with client and contractor to resolve discrepancies or construction issues.
• Document observed field conditions.
• Obtain understanding of project schedule and sequence of activities.
• Process contractor progress payments for review and approval by supervisory personnel.
• Coordinate inspection of construction materials and have understanding of test methods and interpretation of results.
• Develop understanding of project budget, scope of services, and provide updates to supervisor.
