Job summary

Ultimate Staffing Services is seeking a detail-oriented Clerk of the Works to support oversight of construction projects on active sites in East Hartford, CT. This temporary role focuses on ensuring contract adherence, proper documentation, and effective communication with project teams.

The position involves on-site work, daily log maintenance, and coordination with the project manager to drive successful project close-out with compliant records.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in construction, building maintenance, or a related field.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and basic construction site safety practices.
• Excellent documentation, observation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in varied environments, including confined spaces and outdoor conditions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with others.

Responsibilities

• Monitor construction sites to ensure all work is performed according to contract documents and specifications.
• Maintain daily logbooks detailing work performed, site conditions, and contractor progress.
• Attend project meetings as the owner’s on-site representative and report key updates.
• Track and document changes, approvals, and construction activities in an organized and efficient manner.
• Assist Project Manager with final walkthroughs and ensure proper documentation is completed for project close-out.
• Coordinate and communicate regularly with the project manager regarding progress, issues, and any required interventions.
• Observe safety practices and report non-compliance as necessary.
