Job summary

JLL is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the engineering team and oversee the operation of building systems in Downtown Seattle. This on-site role requires managing one maintenance technician and four Class B office buildings, with a 7am–4pm schedule and an on-site presence.

You will lead safety and maintenance programs, develop budgets, coordinate with clients, and direct contractors while ensuring reliable, compliant facility operations. Visa sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience in roles like Chief Engineer or similar.
• People management experience, leading a team.
• Trade school education, union training, or college is desirable.
• Universal CFC EPA certification.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders up to 30 feet.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems.
• Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, coaching and development.
• Create and update preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures.
• Lead client-facing and property team communications.
• Manage engineering budget and participate in operating budget process.
• Assist in developing a capital improvement plan.
• Schedule and direct contractors; monitor performance.
• Respond to emergencies and service calls.
• Lead ongoing safety and training programs.
