Job summary

Basic qualifications include a degree in physical or life sciences or engineering with chemistry coursework, plus at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12, including LC-MS

Qualifications

• Degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering with 30 semester hours in chemistry, plus calculus and 6 semester hours of physics.
• OR combination of education and experience meeting above, with 30 chemistry hours and physics plus relevant coursework.
• Minimum one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12, performing technical chemical work.
• Experience developing and optimizing LC-MS methods for diverse matrices; quality oversight under CLIA/ISO or equivalents.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex chemical analysis, identification, and testing of substances.
• Formulate hypotheses and review chemical studies, solving novel problems.
• Develop new data capture approaches and databases for analysis.
• Provide lab leadership and mentoring on technical matters.
