Job summary

Vallen Distribution is seeking an On-site Buyer to join our Des Moines team. You will purchase products, goods, and materials at customer locations, ensuring price, quality, timing, and reliable supply meet our standards.

You will coordinate forecasts, replenishments, and vendor interactions to support customer demand. Successful candidates typically have a high school diploma (Bachelor's preferred) with 1+ years in procurement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• 1+ years of procurement experience preferred.
• CPM certification preferred.
• Experience with ERP and Inventory Management applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform procurement activities to meet customer demand and align with purchasing strategies.
• Review and approve inventory forecasts produced by ERP systems.
• Review and approve daily replenishment recommendations.
• Assess orders to determine action for expediting or de-expediting.
• Place purchase requisitions and vendor purchase orders.
• Research and make recommendations for vendors and items.
• Monitor quality and timeliness of products; coordinate returns or replacements.
• Negotiate and coordinate vendor returns for aging or excess inventory.
• Follow-up on purchase orders and communicate status to customers.
• Communicate with vendors to resolve problems with timeliness or quality.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Resolve account payables nonconformance with suppliers.
• Identify cost savings opportunities; produce KPI data.
• Follow SOPs; adhere to LEAN practices; keep worksite clean.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
