Job summary

Fortil, an international engineering consultancy operating in 14 countries, seeks a Resident Engineer to support a client in Auburn Hills, Michigan. You will be the primary technical interface between the customer and multidisciplinary engineering teams from project launch through production support.

Requirements include 3+ years in resident engineering within automotive environments, strong knowledge of Stellantis-like development workflows, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer in automotive R&D or similar
• Strong understanding of automotive development processes and workflows
• Experience coordinating across software, hardware, systems, and validation teams
• Proven ability to communicate with customers and document technical discussions
• Experience with issue tracking tools such as JIRA, IBM RTC, Redmine or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Act as the on-site technical liaison between the customer and internal engineering teams
• Support product development activities and coordinate technical discussions with stakeholders
• Participate in project reviews, customer meetings, quality reviews, and program follow-up activities
• Track, document, and communicate technical issues using issue management tools
• Coordinate with software, hardware, systems, mechanical, and validation teams to ensure timely issue resolution
• Provide regular project status updates and elevate critical issues when necessary
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes and customer support
• Ensure customer expectations and technical requirements are properly communicated throughout the development process
