Job summary

Symbotic in Buckeye, AZ is seeking a System Engineer to support the reliability, availability, and performance of our automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands-on role focuses on system health, uptime, and technical execution on site, not commissioning or customer-facing work.

You will monitor conveyors, lifts, robotics, and PLC‑controlled equipment, diagnose faults, perform preventive maintenance, and document activities in the CMMS (e.g., Maximo).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands‑on experience in a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience with PLCs (preferably Allen‑Bradley).
• Minimum 1 year with VFDs and motor systems.
• Experience with automated systems (conveyors, lifts, robotics).
• Experience with SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain health of automated systems including conveyors, lifts, robotics, motors, sensors, and PLC‑controlled equipment.
• Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to resolve production‑impacting issues.
• Diagnose failures across PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and control hardware.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on automated equipment.
• Use system data and dashboards to identify fault conditions and recurring issues.
• Document maintenance activities using CMMS (e.g., Maximo).
• Act as a senior technical escalation point during system disruptions or downtime events.
• Partner with on‑site maintenance, operations, and technical teams to restore system performance.
• Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and operators.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety standards.
