Job summary

Igus Inc. in East Providence, RI seeks an Automation Integration Technician to translate released engineering designs into functional automation solutions, lead technical integration activities, commission equipment, troubleshoot issues, and prepare systems for customer acceptance and deployment.

The role bridges Engineering and Production with hands-on experience in automation, robotics, and controls, and requires the ability to read schematics and BOMs, travel to customer sites, and support

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with 3+ years hands-on automation experience.
• Hands-on experience in automation, robotics, machine building, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, field service, controls or system integration.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, BOMs, electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Willingness to travel for customer-site installation, startup and support.

Responsibilities

• Technical Build Review: review BOMs, drawings, electrical documentation, software baselines, IO requirements and FAT criteria.
• Build Leadership & Assembly Support: provide technical direction to assemblers and verify work meets documentation and quality.
• Robot, Controls & IO Integration: configure robot controllers, networks, sensors, actuators and perform IO verification.
• Commissioning & Troubleshooting: commission systems and diagnose integration issues related to production, configuration or design.
• FAT, Installation & Documentation: perform pre-FAT testing, support acceptance testing and document configurations.
• Continuous Improvement: identify opportunities to reduce engineering intervention and improve efficiency.
