Job summary

The California State University, Northridge invites applications for an Interpreter I/II pool to provide classroom interpreting services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Interpreters may handle technical subject matter, require rapid sign-to-voice or voice-to-sign translation, and work on-campus in Northridge.

Positions are hourly, on-call, with varying hours; background check and certification requirements apply. This is a not telecommute role with on-site duties at CSU Northridge.

Qualifications

• Three years of interpreting experience preferred or equivalent certifications.
• Equivalent to a minimum of two years of paid interpreting experience; three years preferred.
• Certification in CI, CT, NIC, and NAD is required or preferred depending on level.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services in classrooms or related instruction settings.
• Adapt terminology and signs for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students across subjects.
• Perform duties with high accuracy in sign language interpretation and transliteration.
