Axsome Therapeutics in New York City is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and close processes. This role partners with stakeholders across the organization to ensure accurate reporting and strengthen internal controls.

This on-site position requires presence at least three days per week and focuses on IFRS/US GAAP reporting, SOX documentation, and process improvements to support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.
• CPA certification required.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience in biotech or Big 4.
• On-site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday required; no full-remote options.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting functions.
• Review processes for automation and improvements across ERP and P2P/OC to Cash.
• Manage monthly and quarterly close and consolidation for accurate statements.
• Support budgets/forecasts and variance analysis.
• Prepare SEC filings and review external communications.
• Coordinate tax compliance and filings with external accountants.
• Develop and document SOX controls and testing plans.
• Oversee equity plan administration and vendor interactions.
• Provide ad hoc financial reporting and strategic insights.
