Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Mission Operations Engineer II to own on-orbit missions for the Winnie Spaceship. You will lead cross-functional teams and shape a hands-on, startup-driven operations culture.

You will manage the full ops development cycle—from mission profiles to execution—working with Avionics, GNC, Software, and Thermal teams to ensure mission success and scalable flight cadence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Computer Science engineering.
• 2+ years of real-time operations experience.
• Familiarity with avionics, GNC, software, and thermal design for spacecraft.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, execute, and lead Varda's on-orbit missions.
• Own the full ops development cycle for mission-unique payloads, from the creation of mission profiles through execution.
• Work with teams across the company to continuously improve upon mission operations and ensure mission success.
• Automate and eliminate operational burden by building webtools.
• Scale up Varda's operational capabilities to support a growing flight cadence.
