Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Production Quality Engineer to support HTGR reactor component and fuel-related manufacturing on the Torrance floor. You will serve as technical authority for production processes, defining inspection methods, evaluating capability, and driving CAPA actions in a fast-paced, safety‑driven environment.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing and Design Engineering to ensure production processes are controlled and verifiable, with hands‑on problem solving alongside

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• 3+ years of quality/manufacturing/process engineering in a production environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and process control docs.
• Experience with SPC, Cp/Cpk, and MSA/Gauge R&R.
• Experience with nonconformance and CAPA systems and root-cause investigations.
• Strong cross-functional communication across engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
• Comfortable in active manufacturing environments with safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and verification methods aligned with drawings and specifications.
• Act as technical disposition authority for nonconformances with proper engineering justification.
• Lead CAPA and root cause analysis using structured methods (8D, 5-Why, fishbone).
• Evaluate process capability and measurement system performance (Cp/Cpk, Gauge R&R, MSA).
• Work on the production floor to solve quality problems with operators and engineers.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Design Engineering to resolve manufacturability issues.
• Provide technical guidance on inspection methods, gauging, and sampling plans.
• Support Quality Plan Certification Training Syllabi and Operator Verification Certification.
• Analyze data trends to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities.
• Support internal audits and external customer quality reviews.
