Job summary

The New School’s College of Performing Arts is seeking a Wardrobe Supervisor for its Performance Operations – Costume Department. This on-campus, overhire role collaborates with designers, shop management, and production staff to realize the costumes for a show while ensuring student safety and operational support.

The position is scheduled as needed and may be renewed based on department funding. The successful candidate will have at least one year of wardrobe supervision and two years in

Qualifications

• 1 year of Wardrobe Supervision experience.
• 2 years of Theatrical Wardrobe experience.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in a professional environment.
• Basic knowledge of stitching by hand, machine, and serger.
• Team-oriented problem solver with collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with designers, creative teams, and production crew.
• Delegate responsibilities to overhire wardrobe crew and supervise shifts.
• Attend Load In and Strike, and participate in tech rehearsals and performances.
• Launder garments and manage dry cleaning.
• Ensure safety and comfort in dressing rooms and fittings areas.
• Maintain professional demeanor around students.
• Follow notes documents and shop management instructions.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
