Job summary

Auburn University at Montgomery seeks motivated tutors to support students in their major areas. Tutors work shifts on campus in the Learning Center or Instructional Support Lab and meet with students in person or online to provide targeted academic help.

They demonstrate effective note-taking, study, and test-taking strategies, and act as academic coaches by guiding students to independent resource access. Training and supervision are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be a currently-enrolled graduate or undergraduate student at AUM with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Strong communicators who are patient and compassionate.
• Desirable time-management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Tutor on campus in the Learning Center or Instructional Support Lab.
• Meet with students in person or online to provide academic support in their major area.
• Offer guidance, demonstrate with examples, and model note-taking, study, and test-taking techniques.
• Act as an academic coach by encouraging students and helping them access resources independently.
• Use TracCloud to enter post-session summary notes for professors.
• Sanitize in-person work stations and schedule appointments when front desk support is unavailable.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
