Job summary

University of California - Santa Barbara is seeking a Medical Assistant for Student Health. You will support physicians, physician assistants, and nurses with exams, vitals, lab testing, and patient flow in a busy clinic.

The role requires strong communication, EMR proficiency, and a commitment to safety and ethical patient care. This is a 11-month per year position with full benefits and standard clinic hours.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification with AMA/AMT/CMAA is required; without certification applicants will not be considered.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR usage.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow written or oral instructions.
• Strong safety awareness and ethics, with professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Assist clinicians during exams and procedures and take vitals.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing and basic clinical tasks.
• Handle patient check-in/out, paperwork, and electronic messages.
• Serve as a medical chaperone when needed.
• Perform autoclave and laundry duties and run errands as required.
