Job summary

Georgetown University offers a full-time Locksmith I position focused on installing, repairing, and maintaining door locks and related hardware. Responsibilities include key cutting, rekeying, and lock picking as needed, with strict adherence to safety and industry standards.

You will report to the Lock Shop Supervisor and collaborate with Facilities Management to ensure secure, well-maintained University facilities across campus.

Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years of experience in locksmithing or a closely related trade.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of apprenticeship or equivalent training in the locksmith trade. Must be bondable.
• Basic understanding of locksmith terminology, tools, materials, and safe work practices.
• Familiarity with ADA, NFPA, and ANSI/BHMA codes/standards.
• Skilled in pinning locks, changing cores, cutting keys, and performing safe lock and hardware repairs.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, service requests, and maintenance activities.
• Ability to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, and during emergency or weather-related operations.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, replacement, and repair of door locks and related hardware.
• Cut keys, rekeying, and lock picking as needed.
• Performs journey-level maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry and trade standards.
• Respond to service requests, scheduled preventive maintenance inspections, unscheduled or special projects, and other duties as assigned.
• Follow safety rules, regulations, and precautions.
