Job summary

Heartland Community College in Central Illinois seeks a full-time, 12-month division leader in Liberal Arts and Social Sciences to guide curriculum, assessment, and division initiatives. The role requires strong collaboration with faculty to advance programs and student success, with oversight of instruction and assessment.

You will supervise full-time and adjunct faculty, participate in program reviews, and promote division goals while ensuring effective budgeting and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a discipline within Liberal Arts and Social Sciences division or a related field.
• Successful teaching experience.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and to function professionally under pressure.
• Ability to foster professional relationships to advance strategic goals of the division and work inclusively with diverse groups of students, employees, external leaders, and other community members.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum & Instructional Leadership: lead curriculum development and instructional methods for assigned division area.
• Faculty Supervision: recruit, hire, schedule, and evaluate full-time and adjunct faculty.
• Student Success & Community Engagement: develop initiatives to improve recruitment, persistence, and success; engage with schools and community partners.
• Operations & Budget Management: oversee budget development, approvals, and expenditures; complete reporting.
• Communicate regularly with faculty regarding instructional matters and promote use of technology in teaching and learning.
