Job summary

The Gemological Institute of America is seeking an experienced instructor for the On-Campus Graduate Jeweler (GJ) program. You will deliver the curriculum using a range of bench tools and equipment, foster a constructive learning environment, and ensure adherence to academic guidelines.

Responsibilities include managing class setup, assessing student work, posting grades, guiding student progress, and coordinating with the NY director and education staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 3+ years jewelry industry experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; Graduate Jeweler (GJ) or Graduate Jeweler Gemologist (GJG) diploma preferred.
• Experience in education or training is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Instructs the On-Campus Graduate Jeweler program curriculum with diverse bench tools and teaching aids.
• Maintain classroom setup and ensure cleanliness of workstation and instruments.
• Manage administrative tasks: attendance, assessments, grades, and documentation; communicate with NY director/education staff.
• Evaluate student work, discuss progress, coach improvements, and provide feedback.
• Stay current with industry trends and participate in professional development and possible travel for instructional purposes.
