Job summary

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) seeks an energetic Graduate Jeweler Program Instructor to deliver on-site curriculum for the GJ course. You will use jewelry manufacturing equipment and teach to professional standards, guiding students and addressing concerns with support from Education staff.

Ideal candidates have a GED or GJ/GJG diploma, 3+ years in the jewelry industry, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Graduate Jeweler (GJ) or Graduate Jeweler Gemologist (GJG) diploma preferred.
Minimum of three years related practical jewelry industry experience is required.
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and five years related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Instruct students in the On-Campus Graduate Jeweler Program using jewelry manufacturing/repair equipment.
Impart course material consistent with GIA standards and integrity.
Address student concerns promptly with Education staff; coordinate with Dean of Students/Manager Education (Carlsbad).
Coach students on academic performance and improvement methods.
Maintain respectful, culturally diverse classroom environment.
Proctor tests, correct assignments, and submit final grades on schedule.
Other duties as assigned.
