Job summary

Western New Mexico University is seeking an Early Childhood Programs Teacher Assistant to support daily classroom teaching and activities in the on-campus program. You will help implement lesson plans, prepare materials, and assist with supervision to maintain a safe, engaging learning environment for young children.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CDA is preferred while pursuing an Associate’s in Early Childhood Education, and bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CDA Certification preferred while working toward an Associate’s in Early Childhood Education.
• Experience with young children preferred.
• Spanish bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing daily educational plans and activities.
• Facilitate small group sessions and supervise a safe classroom.
• Prepare materials and review lesson plans.
• Adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
• Supervise classroom and playground activities; assist meals and hygiene routines.
• Attend department/staff meetings and participate in program requirements.
• Document student progress and participate in conferences and home visits.
