Job summary

The University of Texas at San Antonio is seeking an Automotive Mechanic I in Facilities Operations & Maintenance. This full-time role maintains and repairs automotive equipment on campus, including routine servicing and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, preventive maintenance, and handling shop work orders while adhering to safety protocols and campus procedures. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship in a related field.
• One (1) year of related work experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Position may require security/infra precautions per Texas EO-GA-48.

Responsibilities

• Performs general mechanical work in maintenance and repair of automobiles, trucks, tractors, bulldozers, golf carts, lawn equipment, and related equipment.
• Diagnoses vehicle and equipment trouble.
• Prepares vehicles for state inspection.
• Performs scheduled vehicle preventive maintenance (oil changes, tires, belts, filters).
• Processes automotive shop work orders through the TMA system.
• Drives vehicles within campus and to vendors off campus.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Attends monthly safety meetings and required training.
• Promotes safety and environmental protection; reports unsafe situations.
