Job summary

The University of Texas at San Antonio is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to perform basic maintenance and repair of automotive and maintenance equipment on campus. You will diagnose issues, prepare vehicles for inspections, and handle routine preventive maintenance while following safety protocols.

You will work primarily on campus, participate in monthly safety meetings, and ensure a clean, organized shop environment. A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship in a related field.
• One (1) year of related work experience.
• Valid driver’s license
• This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Responsibilities

• Performs general mechanical work in maintenance and repair of automobiles, trucks, tractors, bulldozers, golf carts, lawn equipment, and related equipment.
• Diagnoses vehicle and equipment trouble.
• Prepares vehicles for state inspection.
• Performs scheduled vehicle preventive maintenance work, including oil changes, tires, drive belts, and filters.
• Processes automotive shop work orders through the TMA work order system.
• Drives vehicles to and from different areas within the University campuses as well as vendors off campus.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Attends monthly safety meetings for the auto shop.
• Attends all safety/maintenance training as required.
• Promotes safe and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; following University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
