Job summary

Georgetown University is seeking an Animal Care Technician II to support the Division of Comparative Medicine’s animal husbandry operations on campus. You will provide high-quality care for laboratory animals, perform routine duties, monitor welfare, maintain records, and assist with shipments and equipment upkeep.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years of animal care experience, and ALAT certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of animal husbandry or related animal care experience.
• AALAS technician certification at the ALAT level or equivalent.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine and specialized care for laboratory animals, including feeding, medicating, cleaning, restraining, and transporting animals.
• Monitor animal health and welfare through daily observations and maintain accurate records and SOP-compliant documentation.
• Sanitize animal facilities, repair/maintain caging and equipment, and properly handle incoming shipments and hazardous materials.
