Job summary

Georgetown University seeks an Animal Care Technician II in the Division of Comparative Medicine to support daily husbandry of laboratory animals and ensure welfare and compliance.

You will feed, medicate, clean, restrain, transport animals; monitor health, maintain records per SOPs, and sanitize facilities. Experience with animal care and ALAT certification preferred; this essential on-campus role requires lifting, safety, and weekend availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least two years of animal husbandry or related animal care experience.
• AALAS ALAT certification or equivalent educational qualifications is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide responsible, high-quality care for laboratory animals, including feeding, medicating, cleaning, restraining, and transporting animals.
• Monitor animal health and welfare through daily observations and maintain records per SOPs.
• Clean and sanitize animal facilities and assign animal rooms; maintain and repair animal caging and equipment as needed.
• Receive, examine, transfer, identify, and house incoming animal shipments according to SOPs.
• Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
