Job summary

CJR in Litchfield, CT is seeking a Vocational Agriculture Teacher to oversee farm operations and teach animal science, crop production, and farm management within the vocational program. The role includes supervising students, managing budgets, coordinating with educators and partners, and supporting emergency response, farm maintenance, and community projects.

On-campus living is required starting May/June 2027 with housing provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three years of professional vocational agricultural experience is required.
• CSDE Certification or willingness to obtain vocational teaching certification is preferred.
• Ability to live on campus starting May/June 2027 (free housing) is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation and maintenance of campus farm and facilities.
• Supervise farm activities and ensure safe use of equipment.
• Support educational opportunities in animal science, crop production, and farm management.
• Collaborate with educators, staff and community partners to promote experiential learning.
• Manage farm budgets, capital expenses and grant funding in coordination with the Director of Education.
• Supervise students and part-time staff; ensure safety of students, staff, animals, and visitors.
• Represent CJR Agricultural Programs to internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee maintenance of farm buildings, hay fields, and road-side farm market operations.
