Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 7–10 years experience managing a commercial farm operation.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Basic budgeting and forecasting understanding.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience operating farm equipment.
  • Flexibility to accommodate shifting priorities and weather events.
  • Attention to workplace health and safety considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop goals for feeding, breeding, and husbandry of cattle and small ruminants.
  • Supervise staff and animal schedules to align teaching and research needs with farm requirements.
  • Adjust work assignments to respond to programmatic changes.
  • Comply with guidelines for care and use of teaching and research animals.
  • Oversee farm business and facilities in collaboration with Facilities team.
  • Oversee animal health care, records, and preventative programs.
  • Manage bedding waste and on‑farm waste handling.
  • Coordinate production of hay and haylage with staff and outside maintenance.
  • Assist with teaching veterinary courses and ensuring animals are available for labs.
  • Support research liaison and care of research animals on the farm.
