Job summary

Johnson County Government’s Mental Health department seeks an on-call Behavioral Health Specialist for the Youth Crisis Center. The unit operates 24/7 with stays typically 3–5 days, and shifts include overnight, weekend, and evening differentials. The position remains open until filled.

Responsibilities include crisis interventions, care coordination, and transportation of individuals to appointments or activities as needed. Minimum requirements apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in a human services field.
• Experience with adolescents in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
• A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides, assists with, or coaches individuals on personal care needs with limited supervision; provides crisis interventions; monitors mental and physical condition.
• Teaches, coaches and provides guidance and support on various skills to enable productive lives of individuals; assists youth in managing emotions and coping goals.
• Organizes and participates in meetings related to care coordination; completes documentation for direct services to ensure timely completion.
• Transports individuals receiving services to appointments, activities, and/or work.
