Job summary

The City of Pocatello Water Department seeks a Lead Plumber/Pipefitter to lead plumbing activities for the water distribution system. You will direct crews, operate a range of water-system equipment, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance on job sites.

Requirements include a Class A CDL within 6 months, Class I Drinking Water Distribution Operator certification within 18 months, and journeyman plumbing skills preferred. On-call duties and collaboration with officials are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Flagging certification and CPR/First Aid preferred.
• Class A CDL within 6 months of hire; Class I Drinking Water Distribution Operator cert. within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Directs and performs installation, maintenance, and repair on City water lines with emphasis on plumbing and pipefitting duties.
• Operates equipment such as air compressors, jackhammers, tapping machines, line locators, backhoes and dump trucks.
• Monitors safety procedures and traffic control; trains other employees in plumbing, pipefitting and equipment operation.
• Shuts off and restores sections of the water distribution system; mitigates leaks and protects property.
• Performs snow/ice removal and basic vehicle maintenance as needed.
