Job summary

The City of Pocatello is seeking a Water Department Lead Plumber/Pipefitter responsible for directing and performing plumbing tasks on the water distribution system. Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, Flagging certification, CPR/First Aid, Class A CDL with endorsements, and Class I Drinking Water Distribution Operator

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Flagging certification is required.
• CPR and First Aid certificationRequired.
• Class A CDL with endorsements is required.
• Class I Drinking Water Distribution Operator certification mandatory within 18 months of hire.
• Journeyman plumbing skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs and performs installation, maintenance, and repair of water lines focusing on plumbing and pipefitting.
• Operates equipment such as air compressor, jackhammer, tapping machine, backhoes, loaders, and dump trucks with trailers.
• Monitors job sites for safety and utility identification; ensures compliance with safety protocols.
• Trains other employees in plumbing, pipefitting, and equipment operation.
• Shuts off and re-pressurizes water lines to minimize property damage from leaks; sets up traffic control.
• Performs snow/ice removal and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Documents work in the City water system database; supports Water Distribution Supervisor as needed.
