Pocatello Fire Department is seeking a Senior Equipment Operator to run a wide range of department equipment and to support water system construction and maintenance. The role includes on-call duties and requires CDL Class A and water distribution certification within specified timelines.

The position emphasizes safety, collaboration with officials, and the ability to train others on equipment operation, with on-site work in potentially adverse weather and traffic conditions.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CDL Class A with tanker/trailer endorsements is required within six months of hire.
• Class I Drinking Water Distribution Operator Certification is required within 18 months.
• Flagging and CPR/First Aid certifications are preferred.
• Three (3) years of heavy equipment experience are preferred.

Mansioni

• Operate all equipment in the Department inventory (e.g., graders, backhoes, dump trucks, water trucks, snow plows).
• Assist in training other employees on operating equipment.
• Assess job sites for utilities and ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Perform basic vehicle and equipment maintenance; conduct flagging and traffic control.
• Backfill, compact, and patch utility cuts; assist with water line work and hydrant installation.
