Job summary

The City of Pocatello is seeking an Equipment Operator to perform light and medium equipment operations for Street Operations or the Water Department. The role requires CDL with endorsements and may involve on-call emergency response from a location in Pocatello.

In Street, you’ll maintain streets, storm drains and levees, operate dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, and snow plowing equipment. In Water, you’ll assist water main work and hydrant maintenance, with water distribution certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Class A CDL with endorsements required; six months from hire to obtain CDL endorsements; and/or Class I Drinking Water Distribution Operator certification within 18 months for Water.
• Two years of light/medium equipment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates power tools and light/medium equipment such as backhoes, loaders, dump trucks with trailers.
• Performs flagging and traffic control at work sites and basic vehicle/equipment maintenance.
• Follows City policies, procedures and safety practices; performs any other duties as assigned.
