Job summary

Interact Center for Visual and Performing Arts is seeking an On-Call Visual Arts Substitute Art Instructor in Saint Paul, MN. This on-call, part-time position supports a professional studio by assisting artists with their creative goals and helping maintain a safe, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities include facilitating daily programming, assisting artists, and staffing gallery events. A degree or equivalent experience plus 6 months studio work is required.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 months of art studio experience.
• Experience with vulnerable populations preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily artistic programming with the art department team.
• Assist artists with daily artistic needs according to goals and plans.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for artists.
• Serve as substitute art instructor for Visual Arts program participants.
• Support a group of 6 to 12 studio artists as needed.
• Implement studio activities and uphold professional standards.
• Assist with exhibitions, gallery shows, and community events when available.
• Staff gallery shifts for special events outside regular hours as needed.
• Participate in required social services and training; follow policies.
• Assist clients with personal care needs if required.
