Job summary

Monmouth University seeks an On-Call Vessel Captain to support its School of Science programs and marine research efforts on campus vessels and associated equipment.

The role involves operation, maintenance, and deployment of vessels ranging from small boats to mid-sized craft, with training for students and researchers. Must be USCG licensed and available for flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience as captain or senior crew on research, commercial, or military vessels (twin and single engine).
• Valid US Coast Guard Master- Near Coastal Waters, 100-ton license required.
• TWIC credential required for access to restricted areas.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record (no major violations in past 5 years).
• STCW basic credential required.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required.
• Vessel trailering capability up to 30 ft.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation, maintenance, servicing and repair of University vessels, vehicles and trailers. Other duties as assigned.
