Qualifications

  • Current 100-Gross Ton USCG Master License required.
  • Experience with NOAA or similar research vessels preferred.
  • Ability to supervise complex at-sea operations and emergency readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with USCG and NOAA policies for research, training, conservation, education and outreach operations.
  • Ensure safe navigation and mechanical operation of the vessel; perform risk assessments prior to underway.
  • Supervise mobilization/demobilization of the vessel and prepare dive gear, gas banks, and relevant equipment.
  • Coordinate engineering work and maintenance with engineers, naval architects, electricians, and marine surveyors as needed.
  • Supervise deck operations and dive deployments, including handling of SCUBA gear and equipment.
  • Develop crew schedules and training plans; represent CPC in interagency meetings as required.
