FOX 11 KTTV in Los Angeles is seeking a per-diem Transmitter Engineer to support the Mt. Wilson transmitter facility during high-profile events or emergencies.

This role requires hands-on experience with high-power transmitters, RF switchgear, testing, failover procedures, and site infrastructure, including power, IT, and links. On-call during events and weather conditions is required; must lift up to 50 lbs and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in electronics repair, AV setup, IT/networking, or military technical roles.
• Technical degree or equivalent training valued.
• Basic IT/networking knowledge (IP, subnets, switches).

Responsibilities

• Operate and calibrate high-power transmitters and RF switchgear at Mt. Wilson.
• Test transmitters, perform failover testing, monitor baseband signals.
• Monitor site power, IT systems, microwave links, satellite downlinks, UPS and generator systems.
• Respond to outages and drive to Mt. Wilson in various weather conditions to keep the station on air.
• Ensure FCC compliance at transmitter site.
