Job summary

KTTV Fox 11, part of FOX Television Stations, seeks a versatile Transmitter and Studio Engineer to support Mt. Wilson transmitters and West Los Angeles studios. You will split time between maintaining studio gear and high-power transmission systems.

The role requires 2–3 years in electronics repair, AV setup, or related fields, with driving duties and ability to lift 50 lbs. On-site work with flexible hours is common.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in electronics repair, studio AV setup, IT or military technical roles.
• Solid grasp of signal flow and electrical safety.
• Basic IT networking knowledge (IP addresses, subnets, switches).
• Valid driver’s license with clean record and ability to drive in various conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work behind equipment racks.

Responsibilities

• Transmitter operations at Mt. Wilson site and primary studio maintenance in West LA.
• Own daily operation, calibrations, and troubleshooting of high-power transmitters and RF switchgear.
• Monitor site IT systems, microwave/terrestrial transport, satellite downlinks, UPS and generator systems.
• Respond to transmitter outages and perform emergency restoration in varied weather.
• Maintain studio equipment: cameras, robotic pedestals, production switchers, and audio consoles.
• Manage signal routing, master control, routers, and playout systems.
• Support newsroom IT, editing bays, NLEs, playout automation systems.
