Science Academies of New York is currently hiring on-call substitutes to support SANY's Utica Academy of Science C.S. Elementary School for the 2026-2027 year. This role offers daily per diem compensation and a pathway to gain classroom experience in a dynamic urban environment.

New York State Certification is preferred, though not required, and candidates with a bachelor's degree who are flexible and data-driven are encouraged to apply. Fingerprint clearance is required to begin employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Certification preferred but not required; Certification in ELA and Math a plus.
• Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus.
• Prior teaching experience preferred and novice teachers encouraged to apply!
• Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education

SANY's Utica Academy of Science C.S. Elementary School is excited to announce the opening for an immediate hiring for anOn-Call Substitutes for the 2026-2027 school year.

We have a great environment for new teachers and encourage experienced teachers to apply! New York State Certification preferred!

Compensation:

The compensation for an on-call substitute teacher is $160 per diem.

As a Daily Substitute, you will:

• Assist with preparation and instruction
• Work closely with small groups of students and provide intervention
• Actively participate in weekly meetings and attend all school-wide events
• Implement classroom policies and procedures
• Lead students to and from specials/lunch
• Effectively manage student behavior
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

What you need

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required
