Job summary

Caltech in Pasadena, CA seeks an on-call Stage Technician to support lighting, audio and AV for events in campus auditoriums and Beckman Mall. You will join the professional staff and work with Event Production, Public Programming, OSC, and campus partners to deliver high-quality presentations.

Responsibilities include setting up and operating lighting and sound equipment, projecting systems, and managing load-ins, checks and strike.

Qualifications

2 years of relevant experience.
Ability to apply advanced technical skills in event support and services.
Proficiency with lighting instruments, dimmers, follow spots, lighting control surfaces, audio consoles, and projection systems.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform repairs.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with hand tools and electronic instruments.

Responsibilities

Provide lighting support for scheduled events in Caltech auditoriums, including hangs, focus, strike, and light-board operation.
Provide audio support and load-ins, sound checks, performances, and equipment restoration.
Provide AV support including projectors, computers, and video playback/recording equipment.
Perform setup and strike of scheduled events.
Collaborate with Event Production, Public Programming, OSC and campus teams.
Adhere to OSHA and safety standards in all tasks.
