Job summary

California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is establishing an Hourly Interpreter pool for on-call services to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classrooms and related settings. Interpreters may range across Interpreter I and II levels, with certification requirements and variable assignments.

Applicants should have experience in sign language interpreting, be prepared for on-campus work, and hold or pursue CI/CT/NIC/NAD certifications.

Qualifications

• Experience in voice-to-sign interpreting or transliterating preferred.
• Certification in CI, CT, NIC, NAD required or maintained.
• Ability to interpret complex subject matter and switch between sign and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services in classrooms or related instructional settings.
• Adapt terminology for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students and convey lecture content accurately.
• Perform duties as assigned, including on-call coverage and varying schedules.
