Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of American Sign Language, English sign systems, Deaf Culture, and interpreting methods used to support deaf and hard-of-hearing consumers in academic, meeting, and platform settings.
  • Ability to provide accurate sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation in advanced academic courses, department meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, theatrical events, and other complex environments.
  • Mentoring, peer guidance, and training of interpreters in employee in-service programs while applying professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret in academic classes with high technical terminology and rapid interaction.
  • Interpret in meetings, conferences, and seminars across departments and university levels.
  • Assist in more complex settings such as conferences and theatrical events for multiple consumers.
