Job summary

Whitsons Culinary Group is seeking a Substitute Food Service Worker in Somonauk, IL. You will assist in serving nutritious meals to students, with a focus on food safety, teamwork, and quick, accurate service.

Roles are on-call with Monday–Friday hours, no nights or weekends, and summers off. Training is provided, and the role offers practical experience in a school nutrition setting.

Qualifications

• Must complete all Whitsons and government-mandated training as required.
• Minimum 1 year of professional food service experience preferred but not required.
• ServSafe certification preferred but not required.
• Ability to speak/read English and follow recipes and safety rules.
• Positive professional image and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prep, portion, and serve meals to students and staff.
• Set up and clean serving areas and kitchen equipment.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Contribute to a positive and welcoming mealtime atmosphere.
• Support the team and jump in wherever needed.
