Job summary

Jefferson County Schools is seeking a Substitute Bus Operator to transport students on assigned routes and maintain a safe, clean bus environment. The role requires a valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Three years of driving experience and a clean driving record.
• Must successfully complete WV School Bus Safety Program and pass requisite tests.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (100 pounds on certain buses) and assist students as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate a bus safely to transport students to and from destinations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report mechanical issues.
• Adhere to traffic laws and district policies while driving.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting and aid students with disabilities.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly bus environment and communicate with dispatch and drivers.
